We met the Sakeberto team at the expo, poured their Junmai sake next to our Lychee syrup, and the pairing clicked right away. Sakeberto Junmai is dry and extra crisp, with light apple and melon notes; real lychee adds a floral sweetness that rounds out the finish without covering the sake. The result is a lychee saketini that is lighter than a vodka martini and just as elegant.
Ingredients
- 3 oz Sakeberto Junmai sake, well chilled
- 3/4 oz Purée & Dreams Exotic Lychee Fruit Infused Syrup
- 1/4 oz fresh lemon juice
- Garnish: a lychee on a pick
Method
- Add the sake, lychee syrup and lemon juice to a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir for about 20 seconds. Stirring keeps sake silky; shaking dilutes it.
- Strain into a chilled martini glass.
- Garnish with a lychee and serve.
Variations
- Stronger: add 1 oz vodka and reduce the sake to 2 oz.
- Lychee sake highball: build over ice in a tall glass and top with 3 oz soda water.
Bar tip
One pouch of Lychee syrup makes about 25 Lychee Sake Martinis. Bars can order the Lychee syrup here, and find more lychee drinks in our Lychee Martini recipe.
